It’s not a stretch to say that this year’s New York Mets squad has punched well below their collective weight this season, going from World Series dreams at NY sportsbooks to a 47-53 nightmare.

With the Mets sitting 17.5 games out of first place in the NL East (as of Tuesday), GM Billy Eppler might choose to blow up New York’s $334.5 million payroll and try again with a fresh stack of talent for 2024.

EmpireStakes, your home to NY betting apps, compiled hypothetical odds on where the Mets could trade some key veterans ahead of next week’s trade deadline.

Where Could Current Crop of Mets Wind Up?

The most likely Met to be wearing a different uniform down the stretch, in our opinion, is veteran outfielder Tommy Pham.

Pham, who is signed to a one-year, $6 million contract, would be an easy addition for any prospective team given his current deal, which is why EmpireStakes gives the 35-year-old +350 odds of being dealt before Monday’s deadline.

Other of the Mets roster who could hear their names called on Aug. 1 include veteran first baseman Mark Canha, who has +400 odds of moving on from New York, in addition to closer David Robertson (who also has +400 of being moved).

The one wild card here would be whether Mets billionaire owner Steve Cohen is willing to detonate the star-studded roster he shelled out historic sums of money to build.

For now, what we do know is that the Mets are falling out of the NL playoff race with about two months left in the MLB regular season, which will likely force their hand come Monday’s trade deadline. Over at BetMGM New York, the Mets are +4000 to advance to the World Series, and that's barring a firesale that could come over the next few days.
